Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in food preparation and kitchen management
  • minimum one year supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ServSafe Certification
  • valid driver’s license with a compliant driving record as per local policies and enrollment in California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • knowledge of upscale and ethnic cuisine preparation
  • strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • proficiency in English communication
  • computer literacy for food management systems

  • skilled in clear and distinct verbal communication
  • experience supervising culturally diverse food service personnel
  • knowledgeable in upscale service styles and ethnic cuisine
  • proficient in basic culinary techniques and procedures

  • leadership skills to develop and manage an effective culinary team
  • problem-solving and independent functioning ability
  • mathematical skills for costings and recipe standardization
  • computer skills for operating food management systems and report generation

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement upscale and culturally diverse menus
  • manage production supervisors and oversee all production staff
  • schedule and train culinary personnel in food preparation duties
  • conduct quality assurance, audits, and portion control
  • control food costs and requisition supplies
  • ensure proper storage of food items according to safety standards
  • comply with sanitation and safety procedures as per JCAHO, HACCP, and university policies
