Job Requirements

  • Two plus years of post-high school education
  • Five plus years of related employment experience
  • Availability to work in a hotel environment
  • Ability to manage kitchen staff and operations
  • Strong knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations
  • Capable of managing budgets and controlling costs
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Leadership and team management experience

Job Qualifications

  • Two plus years of post-high school education, culinary education is desirable
  • Five plus years of employment in a related position
  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices including managing associates and complex problems
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing plans, safety programs, personnel and labor relations, business plans, repairs, maintenance, budgeting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and develop staff
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication style for different audiences

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily production, preparation, and presentation of all food for the hotel's restaurant(s) and room service to ensure quality and consistency
  • Manage human resources in the kitchen including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, developing, coaching, and conducting performance reviews
  • Schedule and oversee maintenance and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and related areas to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Monitor, analyze, and control labor and food costs, prepare reports and schedules to ensure budget compliance
  • Promote accident prevention programs to minimize liabilities and expenses
  • Assist the Executive Chef in creating, costing, and implementing seasonal and special menus
  • Assume responsibilities of the Executive Chef in their absence
  • Comply with attendance rules and maintain regular work availability
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
