Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification
  • Valid California noncommercial Class C Driver’s License
  • Background check and Live Scan clearance
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Pre-placement physical examination
  • Satisfactory driving record under California DMV Pull Notice System
  • Must sign child abuse reporting acknowledgment under CANRA
  • Ability to work varied hours including nights and weekends
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to kitchen duties

Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience as a sous chef in a large-scale restaurant or hospitality environment
  • 3+ years experience leading or managing teams in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to work rotating schedules, including holidays, weekends, and nights
  • Demonstrated ability to lead culinary production teams specializing in vegan, vegetarian, and healthy cuisine
  • Culinary knowledge of food inventory, recipes, menus, production methods and nutritional information for vegan/vegetarian dishes
  • Strong organizational skills to delegate and monitor tasks
  • Experience controlling food, labor, and supply costs
  • Skilled in hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating employees
  • Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation rules, including training others
  • Competent in leading team meetings and providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve operational challenges
  • Experience developing and perfecting healthy recipes
  • Proficient in operating kitchen equipment like mixers, food processors, meat slicers, ovens, grills, and combi-ovens
  • Ability to measure ingredients accurately and use software for reports
  • Valid California Driver’s License is required

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership and direction to kitchen production staff including Assistant Cooks and Food Service Workers
  • Supervise daily food production ensuring quality and adherence to menu standards
  • Prepare complex menu items including vegan, vegetarian, and healthy alternatives
  • Train and monitor staff on safe usage of kitchen equipment
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation compliance
  • Oversee scheduling, training, and performance evaluations of team members
  • Manage food and labor cost controls and assist in menu and recipe development
  • Maintain accurate production records, temperature logs, and service documentation
  • Foster a positive team environment and handle customer service issues promptly
