Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 2 years experience in a professional kitchen environment
- strong knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs of seniors preferred
- ability to work holidays and weekends
- capacity to manage kitchen staff effectively
- good physical stamina
- certification in food handling or culinary arts an advantage
Job Qualifications
- previous experience as a sous chef or similar role in a commercial kitchen
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to develop menus and create new dishes
- leadership and supervisory skills
- excellent communication and organizational skills
- ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends
- passion for working in senior living or healthcare food service
Job Duties
- work with the Executive Chef or Director of Dining Services to produce diversified menus in accordance with the community's policy and vision
- develop new dishes which appeal to the residents whenever required
- establish the work schedule and organize work in the kitchen so that all tasks are accomplished efficiently and with excellence
- produce high quality dishes that follow the established menu and standards
- train the kitchen staff in order to achieve the best for the nutrition and enjoyment of our residents
- maintain order and discipline in the kitchen at all times
- prepare or assist in preparation of complete meals including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods
- ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- check quality of ingredients
- monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
- comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
- member of the community's emergency response team
- maintain a professional appearance and good personal hygiene per company policies
- perform other responsibilities as assigned
