Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in culinary arts and/or 3 years of relevant professional cooking experience in high volume restaurants
  • At least 1 year experience as sous chef, chef, or kitchen manager in a supervisory capacity
  • Good organizational skills for diverse duties and staff
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to hospitality and service excellence
  • Effective management skills to motivate and develop co-workers
  • Possession of food certifications as required by local, state and federal law

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to operate kitchen appliances and equipment safely
  • Possess advanced knife skills
  • Demonstrate outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Maintain satisfactory physical and mental health
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Capable of standing and walking for up to eight hours per shift
  • Ability to carry up to 30 lbs and exert up to 50 lbs of force

Job Duties

  • Assume responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Direct and coordinate kitchen staff engaged in preparing and cooking food
  • Cook and portion meats, fishes, and produce as needed
  • Prepare daily dishes such as sauces and soups
  • Manage labor, cost, and quality control
  • Ensure sanitation practices and comply with health department regulations
  • Train kitchen staff and enforce safety standards
  • Supervise cleaning and organizing of storage areas
  • Assist with food ordering and inventory management
  • Participate in menu planning and recipe development
  • Monitor kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
