Job Requirements
- Completion of a culinary apprenticeship or recognized culinary certification
- 3 to 5 years of commercial cooking experience
- Solid understanding of HACCP regulations and food safety standards
- Proven ability to manage food production and inventory
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software
- Ability to work on-site in Des Plaines, USA
- Capability to stand for extended periods and manage fast-paced kitchen environment
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial cooking or completion of a culinary apprenticeship or certification from a recognized culinary school
- Solid knowledge of food hygiene regulations (HACCP) and best kitchen safety practices
- Ability to manage food costs, control stock levels, minimize waste, and operate within budgetary guidelines
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and guide kitchen teams effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational abilities
- Commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences for clients and customers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications to support operational efficiency
Job Duties
- Execute and supervise food production activities such as cleaning, cutting, marinating, seasoning, cooking of food items
- Assume responsibilities of Executive Chef when unavailable including vacation and off-days
- Supervise, coordinate and control kitchen helpers in food storage and maintaining tidiness following the first in - first out principle
- Conduct, coordinate and supervise inventories
- Monitor material consumption and order required food and equipment daily to satisfy production plan
- Participate in development of food products and menus for menu presentations
- Update catering manuals as necessary and execute countermeasures in production for customer complaints
- Support training of kitchen helpers
- Maintain and monitor hygiene, health and safety standards and ensure HACCP compliance
- Conduct quality control checks and ensure compliance with recipe specifications
- Ensure that kitchen area is properly organized, staffed, and directed
- Guide, motivate and develop employees within Human Resources policies
- Promote company values and management principles in the department
- Implement and control cost budgets and initiate corrective actions when necessary
- Support company initiatives such as Global Quality Standard, HACCP, and Lean Manufacturing
