Job Qualifications

  • Two plus years of post-high school education, culinary education is desirable
  • five plus years of employment in a related position
  • hotel experience preferred
  • advanced knowledge of principles and practices in the food profession, including management of associates, complex problems, and food and beverage management
  • knowledge of hotel operations including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • leadership skills to motivate and develop staff
  • ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
  • effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences
  • flexible schedule with AM, PM, weekend, and holiday availability

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily production, preparation, and presentation of all food for the hotel’s restaurants and room service to ensure quality and consistency
  • manage human resources in the production and preparation areas including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, and conducting performance reviews
  • schedule and oversee maintenance and sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • monitor, analyze and control labor and food costs, preparing reports and schedules to meet budgets
  • promote accident prevention programs to reduce liabilities
  • assist the Executive Chef in creating, costing and implementing seasonal and special menus
  • assume the responsibilities of the Executive Chef in their absence
  • comply with attendance rules and maintain regular availability
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned
