Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal culinary training is an asset
  • Minimum of two years experience in a similar kitchen role
  • Valid Food Handler Card
  • Ability to supervise kitchen staff
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment maintenance
  • Skills in budgeting and financial management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Commitment to food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal culinary training is an asset
  • Worked for minimum of two years in a similar kitchen in the CDP capacity
  • Food Handler Card, must be valid
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Financial understanding related to kitchen operations
  • Experience handling internal and external business contacts

Job Duties

  • Directs food preparation and collaborates with executive chef
  • Helps in day to day production of the food
  • Produces high quality plates, including both design and taste
  • Oversees and supervises kitchen staff
  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies
  • Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition
  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards
  • Ensures the refrigerators and properly maintained and clean
  • Ensures kitchen team is working safely and ensures a safe working environment
  • Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen's performance
  • Prepares food properly following recipe standards
  • Assist with scheduling
  • Trains new employees
  • Orders food supplies (coordinate with Purchasing manager and executive chef)
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment
  • Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen
  • Ensure kitchen is managing budgeted labor
  • Ensure employees take appropriate breaks
  • Direct the preparation of staff meals
  • Utilize low cost items and utilize items that need to be used up
  • Make sure the kitchen follows the FIFO rule
