Job Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Prefer six months of experience in a restaurant or similar environment as a Cook
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must pass health screenings including physical and TB tests
- Must comply with Covid-19 safety protocols including vaccination and PPE use
- Able to operate cooking and office equipment
- Able to work flexible hours including Sunday to Thursday shifts
- Able to interact compassionately with seniors including cognitively impaired residents
Job Qualifications
- Must be eighteen years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- College course or other education in food service and/or management preferred
- Prefer six months of experience working in a restaurant or similar environment as a Cook
- Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
- Proficient in MS Office programs including Word and Excel
- Able to operate standard office equipment such as fax, copier, and telephone
- Knowledge of or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care practices
- Able to work with seniors and interact patiently with cognitively impaired individuals
- Able to adapt to change, make decisions under stress, and prioritize tasks
- Able to follow and apply written and oral instructions
- Must pass a criminal background check and health screenings including physical and TB tests
- Comply with COVID-19 safety protocols such as vaccination, screening, and PPE use as required
Job Duties
- Ensure the dining experience created for residents, family members, and visitors is of high quality including menu selection, meal preparation, meal presentation, food taste, and meal service
- Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of all meals including special meals, activities, parties, events, and marketing
- Prepare and serve food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies
- Develop and implement culinary procedures to ensure timely food preparation and proper temperature levels
- Maintain menu plans and assist in methods to evaluate quality and quantity of food served
- Control meal portions and food consistency to minimize waste and leftovers
- Act as Department Manager in the absence of Culinary Services Director regarding staffing and supervision
- Assist in purchasing, inventory, receiving, and storing food and supplies, maintaining adequate stock levels
- Ensure sanitary work environment and compliance with food storage, handling, and safety codes
- Organize and inspect food storage and related areas to maintain cleanliness and inventory control
- Order food within budget guidelines and train culinary personnel in receiving correct food orders
- Visit residents regularly to assess special dietary preferences and tailor Culinary Services Program accordingly
