Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years experience in a similar kitchen role
- Valid Food Handler Card
- Ability to manage kitchen equipment and supplies
- Strong supervisory experience
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols
- Ability to work under pressure and solve problems promptly
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Formal culinary training is an asset
- Worked for minimum of two years in a similar kitchen in the CDP capacity
- Food Handler Card, must be valid
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen sanitation
- Ability to plan and manage inventory and supplies
- Competence in scheduling and labor cost management
Job Duties
- Directs food preparation and collaborates with executive chef
- Helps in day to day production of the food
- Produces high quality plates, including both design and taste
- Oversees and supervises kitchen staff
- Assists with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies
- Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition
- Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards
- Ensures the refrigerators are properly maintained and clean
- Ensures kitchen team is working safely and ensures a safe working environment
- Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance
- Prepares food properly following recipe standards
- Assists with scheduling
- Trains new employees
- Orders food supplies (coordinate with purchasing manager and executive chef)
- Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment
- Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen
- Ensures kitchen is managing budgeted labor and employees take appropriate breaks
- Directs the preparation of staff meals utilizing low cost items and items that need to be used up
- Makes sure the kitchen follows the FIFO rule
