Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to follow recipes and food safety standards strictly
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a sous chef or in a similar culinary leadership role
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience with food production, menu planning, and cost control
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train and develop team members
  • Familiarity with budgeting and inventory management
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred

Job Duties

  • Direct and participate in food production operations
  • Lead, direct, coach and teach all kitchen and food production team members
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training team members using approved company training materials and certified coaches
  • Communicate job expectations and standards, review job performance, coach and hold team members accountable
  • Prepare daily production list and direct food production for meals, banquets, and special events in accordance with established recipes and quality standards
  • Ensure line levels represent forecasted sales
  • Conduct daily line checks to ensure proper hold temperatures, portion sizes, quality, freshness and flavor profiles
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations regarding food preparation, handling, storage, and safety are followed
  • Assist the Chef in preparing the annual budget for food, equipment, supplies, and labor
  • Monitor sales, food and labor cost, and related financial data to meet financial metrics
  • Perform administrative and reporting tasks related to cost control
  • Place food and supply orders and verify quantities, invoice prices, and product quality
  • Create work schedules using company labor schedule software and manage staffing levels within budgeted labor cost
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is safe and operational through proper cleaning and maintenance
  • Develop specific training and growth plans for team members
  • Enhance dining experience by tableside visits and partnering with dining room managers
  • Participate in corporate and restaurant leadership teams and collaborate with chefs at other locations
  • Work with Sales Manager to develop, cost and execute menus for banquets, private dining, and special events
  • Facilitate daily pre-shift meetings and maintain communication logs
  • Create a cohesive team environment within the kitchen and encourage communication between back of house and front of house
  • Foster an environment of appreciation and recognition
  • Perform related duties and projects as assigned
