Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- formal culinary training preferred
- ServSafe Food Handler certification required upon hire
- minimum 5 years of directly related experience
- experience in all types of cooking and cuisine
- menu planning for cafeteria and catering
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- basic math and computer proficiency
- ability to understand and uphold safety regulations
- positive and professional attitude
- ability to manage and coach staff
- compliance with HACCP and local health standards
- ability to work under high-volume demands
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- formal culinary training preferred
- minimum 5 years of related experience
- high volume retail experience preferred
- experience in various cooking and cuisine types
- menu planning skills for cafeteria, special events, and catering
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- good basic math and computer skills
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- positive attitude
- understanding of safety regulations in healthcare food service
Job Duties
- Train and manage kitchen personnel
- assist with managing kitchen operations
- coordinate functions and activities including interviewing, evaluations, and disciplinary actions
- complete financial and productivity reporting
- ensure food quality and regulatory compliance
- cover for Executive Chef during absence
- manage preparation of nutritious meals using various cooking methods
- ensure compliance with HACCP and health department regulations
- assess food quality and make necessary corrections
- participate in HR functions including coaching and counseling
- ensure shift operations run smoothly and on schedule
- compose and enforce area checklists
- specify and order food and supplies to maintain budget
- approve all prepared food items
- train team members on food preparation techniques
- utilize and train others on proper cooking methods
- create memorable patient and customer experiences
- promote a team atmosphere
- solicit opinions related to cultural needs
- identify opportunities for performance improvement
- monitor quality levels and address issues
- collaborate on menu and recipe development
- ensure adherence to recipes and dietary compliance
- assist in food and supply budget development and monitoring
- monitor labor expenses
