Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years experience as a sous chef
  • Previous experience in an educational setting preferred
  • Knowledge of state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to supervise and train staff
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday with flexibility for some weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Three years previous experience in a sous chef role
  • Experience working in an educational foodservice setting preferred
  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to manage inventory and control food costs
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work varied hours including some weekends

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and disciplinary actions
  • Store food in designated areas following corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
  • Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
  • Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Relay relevant information to supervisor
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers
  • Monitor inventory and deliveries of products and supplies
  • Track product production, consumption, and waste
  • Inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • Perform other duties as assigned
