Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years culinary experience preferably in restaurants or senior living facilities
  • Culinary arts degree from recognized school desired
  • Ability to read and understand recipes and menus
  • Ability to work in a team environment and flexible shifts
  • Strong communication skills verbal and written
  • Ability to lead or supervise other team members
  • Ability to perform math calculations and problem solve
  • Ability to handle emergency situations
  • Must enjoy working with seniors and accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to maintain good personal hygiene and wear a uniform

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years culinary experience preferably in restaurants or senior living facilities
  • Ability to read and understand recipes and menus work in a team environment handle multiple tasks and communicate effectively verbally or in writing
  • Ability to lead or supervise other team members perform detail work including math calculations solve problems and handle emergency situations
  • Must enjoy working with residents accept constructive criticism interact with residents without posing health risks and maintain good personal hygiene and wear a uniform
  • Culinary arts degree from recognized school with two years related experience as a sous chef or lead cook in comparable sized food service operation desired

Job Duties

  • Provide guidance to junior kitchen staff members including line cooking food preparation and dish plating
  • Make employment and termination decisions including interviewing hiring evaluating and disciplining kitchen personnel as appropriate
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and preventative maintenance
  • Ensure that all products are ordered according to predetermined specifications and received in correct quantity and condition and deliveries are performed according to receiving policies
  • Schedule labor as required to meet business activity while ensuring staffing levels and labor cost objectives are met and administer prompt fair and consistent corrective action for policy violations
  • Train kitchen personnel in cleanliness and sanitation practices
  • Check maintain and record proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points
