Job Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age
- must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- six months experience working as a cook in a restaurant or similar environment preferred
- ability to safely operate cooking equipment and utensils
- proficiency in MS Office programs
- ability to operate office equipment
- knowledge or willingness to learn the practice of assisted living and dementia care
- ability to work patiently with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
- ability to adapt, make decisions under stress, and prioritize tasks
- ability to follow written or oral instructions
- must pass criminal background and health screenings including physical and TB tests
- comply with COVID-19 vaccination, screening, and PPE requirements as mandated
Job Qualifications
- Must be eighteen years of age
- high school diploma or equivalent
- college coursework or education in food service or management preferred
- minimum six months experience in a restaurant or similar cooking role preferred
- ability to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
- proficiency in MS Office applications
- ability to handle standard office equipment
- knowledge of or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care culinary practices
- experience working with seniors, including cognitive impairment
- flexibility and ability to adapt to change
- strong decision-making and prioritization skills
- ability to follow written and oral instructions
- must pass criminal background check and health screenings including TB test
- comply with COVID-19 safety protocols as required
Job Duties
- Ensure the dining experience meets high quality standards including menu selection, meal preparation, presentation, taste, and service
- assist in planning, preparation, and delivery of meals, including special events and activities
- prepare and serve food following sanitary regulations and property policies
- develop and implement culinary procedures ensuring timely food preparation and proper temperature control
- maintain menu plan adherence and assist in evaluating food quality and quantity
- control meal portions and food consistency to minimize waste
- act as departmental manager in the absence of the Culinary Services Director, including staffing and supervision
- assist in purchasing, inventory management, and stock level maintenance
- ensure sanitary conditions and compliance with local food safety codes
- organize and inspect food storage areas for cleanliness and supply control
- order food within budget guidelines and maintain accurate food inventories
- train culinary personnel in food order receiving
- regularly visit residents to tailor the culinary program to individual preferences
