Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification by first day
  • five or more years of supervisory experience in food service preferred
  • ability to communicate clearly in English
  • physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods
  • availability for variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • knowledge of culinary math and inventory management
  • ability to tolerate temperature extremes and use cleaning chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work
  • ServSafe certification obtained within 90 days of hire if not current
  • five or more years of experience as a lead or supervisor in the food industry preferred
  • culinary arts degree preferred
  • ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • knowledge of safe food handling techniques
  • understanding of workflow, prioritization, timelines, and deadlines
  • ability to provide exceptional customer service preferred
  • experience with modified diets and preparation preferred
  • ability to use commercial cooking equipment preferred
  • experience in inventory control, purchasing, costing, and forecasting preferred

Job Duties

  • Lead, guide, and assign work to culinary staff and ensure task completion
  • manage human resources functions including hiring, training, mentoring, evaluating, conflict resolution, discipline, and termination
  • ensure food safety standards and regulatory compliance are met
  • assist in scheduling to maintain appropriate staffing and budget controls
  • resolve service issues including coaching staff and rearranging shifts
  • lead patient meal areas and maintain competency in modified diets
  • implement best practices to deliver quality care and service cost-effectively
  • maintain clean and organized storage areas adhering to health guidelines
  • mentor staff and contribute to culinary education
  • enhance product quality by participating in menu cycle and recipe development
  • prepare new recipes, document results, and recommend improvements
  • ensure recipe compliance and portion control
  • order goods using culinary math and data analysis
  • report and document equipment issues
  • maintain compliance with portioning and presentation standards
