Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience as a sommelier or in a similar hospitality role
- strong knowledge of wines, beverages, and food pairing
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to handle cash transactions accurately
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- customer service orientation
- ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
- take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
- deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
- demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of menu items and ingredients
- advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested
- accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences including specialized diets and allergens
- communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are correctly delivered and special requests are accommodated
- exhibit exceptional communication skills and maintain positive interactions with guests and staff
- collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
- promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests
- promptly address complaints or issues and relay information to supervisors
- ensure the dining room is properly set up before and after service periods
- operate service equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, beverage machines, and coffee machines
- collaborate with staff from other departments during special events and functions
- perform other duties as assigned
