Job Requirements
- 2+ years sommelier experience in a fast-paced restaurant
- strong fundamental knowledge of wine regions both Old and New World
- knowledge of producer and vintage details
- ability to stand and walk for entire shifts
- ability to bend, pull, push, use stairs, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- flexible schedule availability including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- fluency in English including reading, writing, and communication
- ability to function an electronic POS system
- strong work ethic and team player mindset
- excellent guest service skills
- ability to accept direction and constructive criticism
- effective communication skills
- problem resolution aptitude
Job Qualifications
- 2+ years sommelier experience in a fast-paced restaurant
- knowledge of and passion for wine, winemaking, beer, and spirits
- ability to deliver consistent high-quality guest experiences
- strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- polished presentation skills
- effective communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to build positive relationships with coworkers and guests
- problem-solving aptitude
- fluency in English with ability to read, write, communicate, and perform basic business-related math
- POS operation proficiency
- knowledge of beverage pairing and sales techniques
Job Duties
- maintain a clean, well-organized wine cellar in accordance with company standards
- recommend wine and beverage pairings to guests
- upsell both tableside offerings and retail wine offerings for guests to take home
- keep staff abreast of beverage changes on the wine list
- assist with monthly inventory
- know about and defend product brands
- know and be able to identify table and seat numbers
- maintain station cleanliness
- demonstrate knowledge of cocktail list including drinks, specs, and flavor profiles
- understand WBTG facts including producer, variety, region, vintage, flavor profiles, and history
- know the proper standard for opening bottles of wine and tableside service
- be warm, knowledgeable, and appreciative toward guests
- accommodate guests by making each individual feel welcomed
- act professionally and maintain composure
- identify and report problems to management immediately
- be aware of service flow and dining timing and adjust for guests' individual needs
- implement and follow steps of service
- respond to the needs of guests, taking orders, running food, and bussing tables
- oversee activities of the team in the station
