Job Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • minimum 2 years of sommelier experience in a fine dining restaurant
  • excellent knowledge of global wines, beverage service procedures, and food pairings
  • strong organizational, multi-tasking, and cost-control skills
  • ability to identify wine faults and ensure proper storage and serving temperatures
  • skilled in upselling and enhancing the guest experience
  • outstanding guest service and communication skills
  • professional presentation and positive attitude
  • basic math skills and ability to operate a POS system

Job Duties

  • Receive, inventory, organize, and maintain the restaurant's wine program
  • assist with wine purchases, pricing, and cost management
  • guide guests with thoughtful wine recommendations, pairings, and tableside service including decanting
  • train and mentor staff on wine knowledge, proper service techniques, glassware, pour levels, storage, and guest engagement
  • taste and evaluate wines and other beverages for potential purchase
  • ensure all wine is served in proper glassware and optimal condition
  • maintain all wine and beverage lists to be accurate, current, and error-free
  • comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned
