Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience as a sommelier or in a related food and beverage service role
- Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and beverage pairings
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
Job Duties
- Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
- Takes food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
- Delivers food promptly and professionally maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
- Advises guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks and accommodates reasonable requests
- Communicates directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly
- Exhibits exceptional communication skills and flexibility when interacting with guests and staff
- Collects tickets and follows proper cash-handling procedures
- Promotes a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests
- Maintains confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
- Addresses complaints promptly and relays information to supervisor
- Ensures dining room is properly set up before and after service
- Operates equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, and coffee machines
- Collaborates with staff from other departments during special events
- Performs other duties as assigned
