Job Requirements

  • At least two years previous experience working in a fine dining restaurant
  • Full knowledge of wine in regards to taste, varietals, regions, climates and their effect on the grape, harvesting, and the overall process of winemaking
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Sommelier certification preferred
  • Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
  • Verify right to work in the United States
  • Possession of alcohol awareness card
  • Possession of food handler health card
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to walk, stand, crouch, or run on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces
  • Ability to distinguish between shades of color
  • Vision, speech, hearing, and literacy critical for performing role

Job Qualifications

  • Full knowledge of wine including taste, varietals, regions, climates and their effects on grapes and winemaking process
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals and small groups
  • Knowledge of cuisine and menu pairing
  • Advanced knowledge of wine and liquor service techniques
  • Professional appearance
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Sommelier certification preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Bi-lingual preferred
  • Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
  • Verify right to work in the United States

Job Duties

  • Advise guests on wine choices based on individual preferences while enhancing the experience and profitability
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of accurate wine lists appropriate to the venue
  • Record and manage wine inventory effectively
  • Create and distribute training materials for staff and conduct tastings to ensure product knowledge
  • Communicate any 86'd (out of stock) items to management and staff promptly
  • Maintain an active floor presence by proactively approaching guests and servers to offer assistance
  • Perform suggestive sales, proper delivery, and description of wine along with correct pouring and refilling in the dining room
  • Provide outstanding customer service in a timely manner to both guests and team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned
