Job Requirements
- Ability to balance multiple projects and strong project and time management skills
- High attention to detail
- Aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment with ability to work autonomously and exercise good judgment
- High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills to communicate with employees at all levels and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to read, write, and communicate fluent English using correct grammar and diction
- Ability to process routine functions, resolve sensitive issues, and complete complex assignments using critical thinking
- Ability to travel as necessary
- Physical ability to push, pull or lift up to fifty pounds and work in hot, humid, or noisy environments
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree or higher in hospitality management or related field preferred
- Minimum three years prior experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess, or similar role
- Certification as a Sommelier required
- Food safety certification required
- Prior experience in hospitality or a vineyard preferred
Job Duties
- Curates and maintains an extensive wine and beverage list that meets the expectations of Members and guests
- Researches new wines, beers, and liquors, makes purchasing decisions, and ensures beverage lists remain current
- Provides expert wine service during dining hours including recommending pairings and special occasion wines
- Manages wine inventory by ensuring proper storage, rotation, and tracking
- Develops wine education programs for Members and staff including tastings and seminars
- Trains other service staff on wine knowledge and service techniques
- Ensures compliance with all laws applicable to beverage operations
