Job Requirements
- Completion of technical, vocational or trade school education
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
- Ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods
- Capability to move, lift or handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Proficiency in reading and visually verifying information
- Physical ability to reach above head, below knees and maneuver in tight or elevated spaces
- Availability to work full-time at the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District location
- Commitment to adhere to all safety and company policies
- Professional appearance and personal hygiene
- Effective communication in a clear and professional manner
Job Qualifications
- Technical, vocational or trade school diploma
- At least 2 years of related work experience
- No supervisory experience required
- Strong knowledge of wines and beverages
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Attention to detail
- Ability to handle physical aspects of the job
Job Duties
- Deliver, open and serve bottles of wine and champagne
- Respond to guest inquiries regarding the origin, vintage and style of wines
- Update and maintain wine lists and MICROS system
- Suggest wine pairings to complement menu items
- Attend wine tastings and build relationships with suppliers
- Request new wines and products
- Create and update wine lists
- Devise and implement wine promotions and incentive programs
- Check and restock cellar inventory, equipment and glassware
- Train and educate waitstaff and bar personnel
- Verify harvest and BIN numbers
- Conduct staff wine tastings
- Secure storage areas for liquors, beers, wines, refrigerators and cabinets
- Follow company safety policies and procedures
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents or injuries
- Maintain a professional and clean personal appearance
- Protect company information and property
- Support colleagues with respect and dignity
- Assist team to achieve common goals
- Meet quality assurance standards
- Handle and move objects up to 50 pounds
- Stand, sit or walk for long periods
- Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues
- Complete other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisors
