Job Requirements

  • Certified accreditation from a recognized organization (Court of Master Sommelier / WSET) preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in high volume, elevated dining restaurant
  • Must have Food Handler's Certification
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be detail oriented and possess effective communication and written skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be a team player
  • Self-motivated and performance driven
  • Professional and courteous
  • Remain in stationary position for up to 8 hours throughout the work shift
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance
  • Effective communication, written and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Maintain complete knowledge of wine list and wine and food pairings
  • Clean equipment, tools, and supplies for wine service and ensure equipment is in good working order, including cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance
  • Maintain and update cellar/storage inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock
  • Meet regularly with the wine trade to actively seek quality wines for the restaurant wine program as well as evaluate wines and other beverages for potential purchase
  • Eliminate waste by training and supervising employees on wine knowledge, pour levels, proper storage, etc.
  • Verify accuracy of wine delivery ordered and received from the main warehouse and return or exchange deliveries when a warehouse error has occurred
  • Maintain appropriate beverage costs by managing purchases and requisitions
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested
