Job Duties

  • Ensure departmental logistics efficiency and offer improvement ideas
  • assist and conduct wine training for staff and create training materials
  • monitor wine deliveries and proper storage and organization of wine cellar
  • provide friendly, courteous, and efficient guest service
  • work as part of beverage team and assist service team when needed
  • recommend wines based on guest meal and budget
  • resolve guest wine complaints
  • represent and offer wine suggestions to guests and execute wine service
  • support dining room staff with wine and service-related issues
  • personalize service by using guest names and building relationships
  • build guest loyalty by maintaining guest preference notes
  • anticipate and service guest needs proactively
  • recommend after dinner drinks
  • support staff during service
  • maintain knowledge of food menu to recommend wine pairings
  • remain present on the floor and perform quality checks
  • monitor quality of wine and glassware
  • set up ice buckets for service areas
  • train staff on bottle presentation, decanting and pouring
  • organize daily pre-shift training and monthly wine classes
  • communicate wine inventory status to staff
  • report menu discrepancies to Beverage Manager
  • handle wine deliveries and inventory in absence of receiver
  • continuously develop knowledge of wines and industry trends
