Job Description
Mount Auburn Cemetery is a historic and iconic landscape and garden cemetery located in Cambridge and Watertown, Massachusetts. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work mandatory dates in December 2025 including day or night shifts
- Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable interacting with the public
- Willingness to attend one virtual information session and one onsite training session
Job Qualifications
- Previous event support experience preferred
- Previous customer service experience a plus
- Familiarity with Mount Auburn Cemetery a plus
- Excellent people skills including the ability to work harmoniously with staff, volunteers, event partners, and the public
- Ability to change pace and pivot to new responsibilities as needed
- Warm and friendly demeanor
Job Duties
- Preparing event staff trailer by restocking food, water, utensils, napkins, and breaking down empty boxes
- Preparing candles by cleaning wax from glass votives, discarding old tea light candles, carrying and resetting new ones, and turning on remote-controlled LED candles around chapels
- Preparing lanterns and lantern walk path by unplugging and transporting wheeled carts of charged lanterns and placing orb lights into the landscape
- Preparing parking area by placing road barricades and checking parking sign placement
- Preparing event area by checking event area sign placement and light battery status
- Preparing community message boards by checking and replacing inventory and setting up space
- Welcoming guests during night shifts
- Providing directional instructions to artworks, bathrooms, buildings, check-in tents, event maps, food and beverage areas, gift shop, info desk, and parking areas
- Scanning event tickets for guest check-in
- Handing out candles
- Answering event-related questions
- Opening heavy doors for guests
- Reminding guests of event rules politely
- Assisting with nightly event break-down
