  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field (business/public administration, communications) preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in program coordination, student services, or communications preferred
  • Graphic design/marketing skills preferred
  • Experience supervising or mentoring student employees preferred
  • Familiarity with higher education structures and student services preferred
  • Strategic thinking and outreach abilities for building partnerships preferred

Job Duties

  • Process experiential learning grants, scholarships, and student awards including gathering letters for donors and keeping record of funding distribution
  • Provide student conference travel support and work with college internship manager to identify and promote internship opportunities
  • Coordinate publicity, planning, and on-site logistics for department events including hosting visiting scholars and other guests, faculty and staff retreats, new student orientation and major fairs, and other exciting events
  • Build relationships with campus advisors and alumni to promote the sociology major and department opportunities
  • Represent Sociology on the College Communications Council including distribution of department newsletter and updating the website
  • Work closely with the department chair and office manager and provide general ongoing office support
