Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- two years of experience working in social or public service environment
- experience assisting the public
- ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- ability to type and operate various office equipment
- ability to sit for extended periods with occasional standing and walking
- ability to lift and carry light objects up to 25 lbs
- commitment to the religious mission of The Salvation Army
- excellent attendance record

- ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically
- ability to build and maintain effective relationships with community agencies
Job Duties
- Greets and interviews clients requesting assistance to determine eligibility
- records clients' disposition and pertinent information such as income, expenses, family and work history
- assists clients in completing applications for assistance
- prepares, completes, and processes vouchers for food, clothing, and furniture
- directs clients to appropriate service locations such as the Lodge kitchen or Thrift Store
- provides food from pantry and maintains pantry inventory
- assists in processing rent and utility financial assistance
- serves as liaison to community agencies
- prepares and maintains accurate client records and statistics
- answers and directs telephone calls
- receives, greets, and announces visitors and clients
- provides information about services
- records and distributes messages
- receives and receipts deliveries and donations
- performs routine clerical duties such as typing, filing, photocopying, and document preparation
- assists with special programs and seasonal projects
- maintains neatness of the reception area
- stocks daily bread shelves after screening
- sets appointments for case manager
- makes announcements over the intercom
- validates parking tickets
- proofreads correspondence
- connects and logs telephone calls
- sorts and distributes mail
