Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and occasionally over 45 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Knowledge of Navy Medical food safety standards
  • Ability to work under supervision and lead a team
  • Willingness to maintain required food safety certifications

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to direct work activities of a mixed occupational crew
  • Ability to plan and coordinate daily meal assignments
  • Knowledge of food characteristics and cooking procedures
  • Ability to instruct lower-graded cooking staff
  • Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitary requirements
  • Experience with Navy Medical food safety certification and ServSafe training

Job Duties

  • Direct work activities of a mixed occupational crew during assigned shift
  • Plan, coordinate, and time daily assignments for completion at mealtime
  • Adjust recipes based on the number of servings needed
  • Instruct lower-graded cooks on cooking procedures
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitary requirements
  • Maintain Navy Medical food safety certification and provide required training
