Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and occasionally over 45 pounds with assistance
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Knowledge of Navy Medical food safety standards
- Ability to work under supervision and lead a team
- Willingness to maintain required food safety certifications
Job Qualifications
- Ability to direct work activities of a mixed occupational crew
- Ability to plan and coordinate daily meal assignments
- Knowledge of food characteristics and cooking procedures
- Ability to instruct lower-graded cooking staff
- Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of safety and sanitary requirements
- Experience with Navy Medical food safety certification and ServSafe training
Job Duties
- Direct work activities of a mixed occupational crew during assigned shift
- Plan, coordinate, and time daily assignments for completion at mealtime
- Adjust recipes based on the number of servings needed
- Instruct lower-graded cooks on cooking procedures
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitary requirements
- Maintain Navy Medical food safety certification and provide required training
