Job Requirements

  • Standing 85-100 percent of the shift
  • Frequent bending at the waist
  • Able to bend to below the knee
  • Frequent stooping and/or crouching
  • Frequent walking back and forth throughout the counter area and stock room and food service areas
  • Frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso
  • Full range of arm movement including extension, twisting, and bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead, stirring and mixing, wiping
  • Wrist and finger dexterity including ability to use tongs, scissors
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds from the floor to waist height
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds overhead
  • Able to push and pull up to 250 pounds
  • Wrist and finger dexterity including ability to use tongs, scissors, pen, fine motor skills, press buttons for data entry on computer, calculator, electronic K5 and other beverage machines
  • Listening to and responding to customer and staff inquiries
  • Visual and cognitive capability sufficient to read and follow instructions, recipes

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 18 months of food handling, short order cooking, or related experience
  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions
  • Ability to count cash, make change and communicate well with the public
  • At least one year of cash handling experience

Job Duties

  • Take between 300-1200 customer orders daily and serve them
  • Use POS terminal to add cost of food, collect money and make change
  • Prepare a variety of simple foods including French fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, soups, sandwiches
  • Prepare and dispense coffee, tea and other beverages
  • Wash dishes, cooking utensils, counter space
  • Observe safety and health regulations and maintain highest standards of sanitation
  • Operate independently and without direct supervision to determine quantities of food and beverages needed
  • Maintain records such as number and dollar volume of sales, daily time record of hours worked
  • Balance and reconcile cash to cash register tapes
  • Balance safe (petty cash) daily
  • Instruct and assign helpers and student staff
  • Forecast and determine weekly order based upon established menus and customer count history
  • Place orders with food vendors
  • Take weekly inventory of products
