Job Requirements

  • Four years journey level experience in area of assignment including one year lead work or supervisory experience
  • valid Florida Class E Driver's License
  • ability to obtain Public Health Applicators License within six months
  • availability to work nights, days, weekends and emergency assignments
  • ability to wear respirator and personal protective equipment
  • physical ability to perform light work involving lifting up to 25 pounds
  • compliance with safety standards and county policies

Job Qualifications

  • Four years of journey level experience in area of assignment
  • one year of lead work or supervisory experience
  • knowledge of mosquito control methods, equipment and safety procedures
  • ability to manage and coordinate mosquito control operations
  • working knowledge of County, State and Federal rules governing mosquito control
  • knowledge of FAA aerial spray program regulations
  • skill in equipment maintenance and repair
  • good communication and leadership skills
  • ability to work flexible schedules including emergencies
  • valid Florida Class E Driver's License
  • ability to obtain Public Health Applicators License within six months of employment

Job Duties

  • Prioritizes staff assignments
  • plans and implements work projects and methods
  • determines application procedure and oversees purchasing of all materials
  • submits requisition forms and specifications for supplies and materials
  • determines equipment needs and maintenance
  • performs and oversees equipment maintenance
  • determines if safety hazards exist and implements corrections
  • inspects buildings and grounds for repairs and maintenance
  • plans, assigns and supervises trades staff, equipment operators and maintenance personnel
  • inspects jobs in progress and completed jobs
  • oversees requisition of parts and supplies
  • manages heavy equipment fleet
  • repairs, replaces, diagnoses and troubleshoots related equipment
  • consults and assists other agencies
  • assumes duties of superior when needed
  • handles personnel issues, payroll, reports, and staff meetings
  • monitors assigned budget
  • inputs data and work logs into computer
  • communicates with management on maintenance issues
  • attends relevant meetings
  • performs related work as assigned
