Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years food experience in supervisory capacity preferred
  • ServSafe certification within six months of hire
  • Allergen certification within six months of hire
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Leadership ability
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with others
  • Ability to deal tactfully with diverse groups

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferably two years food experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility or related medical facility or experience as a chef in a restaurant
  • ServSafe certified and Allergen certified within six months of hire
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies personnel and the general public

Job Duties

  • Responsible for all functions of the kitchen in the absence of the Food Service Director or Executive Chef
  • Review menu prior to food preparation to estimate food requirements
  • Work with the facility's dietitian and other departments as necessary to coordinate food service and implement correct diets
  • Prepare and serve meals in accordance with standardized recipes including portion control, special diet orders, texture modifications and therapeutic diets in a timely manner
  • Maintain knowledge of food procedures including disposal of food and waste according to sanitary regulations
  • Assist in establishing food service production line
  • Seek out new methods and principles to incorporate into existing food practices
  • Maintain care and use of supplies, equipment and appearance of work areas
  • Perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of duties
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident/patient care information including protected health information
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information
  • Adhere to Patients and Resident rights
  • Demonstrate patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm when handling residents
  • Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested
