Job Requirements

  • Valid OSHA 30-hour Construction card within last 3 years
  • minimum 10 years heavy construction experience
  • minimum 5 years construction safety experience
  • first aid and CPR certification
  • good physical condition to walk job sites and perform safety assessments
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • safe operation of a vehicle with good driving record
  • ability to work in varying weather conditions and elevated or excavated areas
  • effective communication skills
  • experience with jobsite safety audits and emergency response coordination

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years heavy construction experience
  • minimum of 5 years construction safety experience as a safety professional or supervisor
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction certification valid within last 3 years
  • OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour Outreach Instructor certification strongly desired
  • BCSP certification (CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, SMP) strongly desired
  • first aid and CPR training required, trainer preferred
  • working knowledge of excavations, confined spaces, fall protection, hazard communication, crane and rigging operations, and concrete and asphalt paving safety
  • ability to conduct awareness level safety training
  • experience with causal analysis methods
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • efficient in safety documentation and recordkeeping

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and assist with jobsite orientation and safety training
  • lead site supervisors in enforcing safety standards per IIPP
  • assist and coordinate subcontractor compliance with safety regulations
  • lead incident investigations and report findings while ensuring follow-up corrective actions
  • coordinate weekly toolbox meetings with site supervisors
  • ensure Project Safety Plan is implemented with defined roles and action plans
  • coordinate emergency response and medical treatment for employees
  • maintain OSHA and Cal-OSHA jobsite postings
  • conduct site safety audits according to Project Safety Plan
  • ensure compliance with CA MUTCD and temporary traffic control plans
  • assist Project Manager with submittals
  • provide daily safety reports and document jobsite inspections
  • ensure compliance with Dig Alert (811) ground disturbance permits according to CA GC4216
  • maintain and update project safety logs
  • distribute safety and security materials to personnel
  • assist in PPE procurement, distribution, and training
  • attend monthly safety meetings held by Owner/Agency
  • perform noise, airflow, and air quality testing and maintain records
  • perform other assigned duties
