Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 10 years of heavy construction experience
  • minimum 5 years in construction safety role
  • valid and unexpired OSHA 30-hour Construction card
  • ability to conduct jobsite safety training
  • excellent communication skills
  • valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • physical ability to walk job sites including elevated platforms and excavations
  • ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • CPR certification
  • ability to work in varying weather conditions
  • proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • willingness to travel to job sites
  • strong leadership and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of heavy construction experience
  • minimum of 5 years of safety experience in construction industry as a safety professional or supervisor
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction certification, valid and unexpired within last 3 years
  • OSHA 10 Hour and 30 Hour Outreach Instructor certification strongly desired
  • BCSP Certification such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, or SMP strongly desired
  • first aid CPR training required, trainer preferred
  • demonstrated working knowledge of excavations, confined spaces, fall protection, hazard communication, crane and rigging operations, concrete and asphalt paving
  • ability to conduct awareness level training for each discipline
  • working knowledge of causal analysis methods
  • solid interpersonal skills and ability to work well with project teams, owners, and construction management firms
  • moderate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • efficient recordkeeping and submittals of project safety documentation

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and assist with jobsite orientation and safety training
  • lead site supervisors in enforcing safety standards according to IIPP
  • assist and coordinate subcontractor compliance with jobsite safety regulations and requirements
  • lead incident investigations and provide reports, ensuring corrective actions are taken
  • assist with and coordinate weekly toolbox meetings with site supervisors
  • ensure Project Safety Plan is in place with roles defined and action plans established
  • coordinate emergency response and ensure employees receive medical treatment
  • maintain jobsite postings in accordance with OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations
  • lead and conduct site safety audits in accordance with Project Safety Plan
  • ensure operations comply with CA MUTCD and temporary traffic control plans
  • assist Project Manager with submittals
  • provide daily reports and document daily safety inspections of the jobsite
  • assist with compliance with Dig Alert (811) ground disturbance tickets and permits
  • maintain and update project logs
  • provide safety and security materials to personnel
  • assist in procurement, distribution, and training with PPE
  • attend monthly safety meetings held by the owner/agency
  • perform testing on noise, air flow, and air quality and maintain records of testing
  • perform other duties as assigned
