Job Requirements

  • Experience as an SSHO on federal construction projects
  • Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to obtain SSHO certification if not currently certified
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to federal project sites
  • Ability to communicate confidently with various stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain safety documentation and compliance
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive risk management skills

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an SSHO on federal construction projects
  • Strong working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA regulations
  • Current SSHO certification or ability to obtain
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Experience working on projects for USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, VA, or GSA preferred
  • Confident communicator who can engage field crews and leadership alike

Job Duties

  • Serve as the on-site SSHO for federal construction projects, ensuring full compliance with project safety plans and federal requirements
  • Enforce and manage EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and site-specific safety programs
  • Conduct daily safety inspections, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and toolbox talks
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action planning
  • Work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, and owners to proactively manage risk
  • Maintain all safety documentation, reporting, and training records required for federal projects
  • Promote a strong, visible safety-first culture on every jobsite
