Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have valid identification
  • reliable transportation and ability to get to and from work on schedule
  • able to work mandatory overtime and possibly Saturdays
  • pass background check, TB test, and drug test
  • must obtain Serve Safe Certification if applicable
  • stand for four plus hours per day
  • stoop, bend, climb, and walk frequently
  • lift up to 40 pounds
  • able to work in loud environments and communicate clearly
  • maintain a high energy level and positive representation
  • must be able to supervise up to 20 youth and maintain safety standards
  • provide discipline with documentation and parent communication
  • follow crisis management, emergency preparedness, CPR and First Aid practices
  • maintain a clean and orderly work space at all times

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • associates degree from an accredited college or university or BA/BS preferred
  • work experience with a Boys & Girls Club or other youth-serving organization
  • valid CPR/First Aid certification upon employment (in-person training required)
  • ability to organize, supervise, and reinforce positive behavior from members
  • instructional aide qualified (paraprofessional test required)
  • meet staff training requirements
  • enthusiasm and patience for working with children and passion about education

Job Duties

  • Plan and oversee the implementation of designated site programs and activities that support youth development outcomes
  • establish and maintain site program goals and settings that ensure the health and safety of members
  • ensure that site staff understand and effectively communicate program standards and maintain safe program areas and equipment
  • evaluate site programs continuously to respond to member needs and address gender and cultural diversity
  • allocate and monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal
  • oversee all site record keeping and grant reporting and compliance including participation data and notable achievements, maintaining a 20:1 member/staff ratio
  • increase visibility of site programs through posting schedules, announcements, and dissemination of promotional materials
  • develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, members, school staff, and other stakeholders
