Job Requirements

  • Minimum age 18
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to lift 50 to 55 lbs and manage heavier weights with assistance
  • ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, crouch, kneel, and perform fine motor movements
  • ability to work under varying environmental conditions such as cold, hot, and noisy areas

Job Duties

  • Provides superior customer service
  • takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answers customer questions regarding products
  • assists them with selections
  • prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
  • uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • operates and maintains equipment properly
  • complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • complies with department and store operating procedures
  • records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery)
  • takes care of service counter customers (deli)
  • uses ordering system applications (deli)
  • performs inventory management processes as required (deli)
  • ensures catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup if applicable (deli)
  • performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers (deli)
  • serves and packages products at customer's request (prepared foods)
  • educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions (prepared foods)
  • prepackages condiments for prepared food items (prepared foods)
  • cuts, slices, dices, chops food in preparation for chef (prepared foods)
