Job Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language
  • ability to perform basic math
  • ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
  • ability to perform basic computer functions
  • ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 35 lbs, and occasionally lift 80-90 lbs
  • ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
  • ability to work in varying temperatures
  • ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
  • ability to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racking and storage areas
  • ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • ability to work cooperatively with others
  • ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies
  • ability to engage and lead associates to achieve department goals

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in retail meat department management or related field
  • knowledge of food safety standards and HAACP
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • ability to perform basic math and computer functions
  • familiarity with inventory control and merchandising
  • understanding of regulatory compliance for meat products
  • ability to train and develop associates
  • physical ability to lift heavy products and stand for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and food safety regulations
  • supervise and lead meat department associates to achieve department goals
  • maintain department cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
  • ensure all products are properly stocked, priced, labeled, and rotated
  • monitor and maintain all required temperature logs and production sheets
  • oversee unloading and storage of meat products including heavy lifting
  • provide excellent customer service and promote charitable initiatives
  • assist in hiring, onboarding and training new associates
  • enforce safety protocols and appropriate use of equipment
  • manage inventory accuracy including invoice verification and price labeling
  • ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to meat operations
  • maintain department financial goals and control shrink
  • coordinate department work schedules and attendance
  • assist with special orders, catering, and food preparation as needed
  • perform other duties as assigned
