Job Requirements
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language
- ability to perform basic math
- ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
- ability to perform basic computer functions
- ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 35 lbs, and occasionally lift 80-90 lbs
- ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
- ability to work in varying temperatures
- ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
- ability to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racking and storage areas
- ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
- ability to work cooperatively with others
- ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies
- ability to engage and lead associates to achieve department goals
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in retail meat department management or related field
- knowledge of food safety standards and HAACP
- strong leadership and team management skills
- excellent communication and customer service skills
- ability to perform basic math and computer functions
- familiarity with inventory control and merchandising
- understanding of regulatory compliance for meat products
- ability to train and develop associates
- physical ability to lift heavy products and stand for extended periods
Job Duties
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and food safety regulations
- supervise and lead meat department associates to achieve department goals
- maintain department cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
- ensure all products are properly stocked, priced, labeled, and rotated
- monitor and maintain all required temperature logs and production sheets
- oversee unloading and storage of meat products including heavy lifting
- provide excellent customer service and promote charitable initiatives
- assist in hiring, onboarding and training new associates
- enforce safety protocols and appropriate use of equipment
- manage inventory accuracy including invoice verification and price labeling
- ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to meat operations
- maintain department financial goals and control shrink
- coordinate department work schedules and attendance
- assist with special orders, catering, and food preparation as needed
- perform other duties as assigned
