Job Duties
- Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
- greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance
- enter customer information into database for eligibility in Wakefern programs
- be knowledgeable in the various types of products carried in the store
- sort and return return to stock items to their normal locations with priority on refrigerated and perishable items
- perform price check functions as needed
- issue and update information involving rain checks and perform Scanrites according to company procedures
- answer phones promptly and professionally and direct calls as policy dictates
- issue refunds and Price Plus cards
- operate cash register and follow all cash handling procedures
- enforce company standards, policies and guidelines on checkout procedures, cash control, coupons, gift cards, scan rites, merchandise returns and rainchecks
- check equipment daily for proper performance
- process all forms of payment including cash, credit, checks, EBT, WIC, rainchecks, coupons, vouchers and gift cards
- maintain cash integrity by handling pickups, making change, overseeing podium security and safeguarding tills
- fill staffing needs by opening registers and calling for assistance from other departments
- check prices and know item locations
- regularly lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise up to 50 lbs
- adhere to company shrink guidelines
- promote charitable sales promotions
- stand at work station for scheduled shifts of up to 8 hours or more
- assist with voids, overrides and Price Plus cards
- enforce front-end policies and procedures
- monitor breaks and ensure attendance compliance
- comply with child labor laws
- utilize department equipment
- maintain sanitation and QA standards
- perform all duties in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and company rules
- follow HAZCOM program and safe chemical use
- dress and groom according to company policy
- complete department training programs
- maintain punctual attendance
- work overtime as assigned
- perform other duties as assigned
