Job Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret and understand English
  • Ability to assist the Bakery Manager
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without allergic consequences
  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during housekeeping duties
  • Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time and attendance policies
  • Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-los, power jacks and slicing machines

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
  • Maintain department sanitation and quality assurance standards including safety, personal hygiene, clean cases and equipment
  • Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment
  • Keep floor clear of debris and spills
  • Greet all customers providing prompt and courteous service and assistance
  • Maintain and properly use all department equipment
  • Pack out product into display cases
  • Rotate product to ensure freshness
  • Ensure accurate signage for the department
  • Prepare trays to company’s and customer’s satisfaction
  • Perform duties in accordance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Dress and groom according to company policy including uniform, name badge and hair restraints
  • Follow recipes to produce food products of specified flavor, texture, clarity, bouquet or color
  • Follow weights and measures guidelines established by federal, state, local and civic standards
  • Set up, operate and tend equipment that cooks, mixes, blends or processes ingredients
  • Prepare special order requests as required
  • Track sales movement on production logs
  • Take complete and accurate weekly inventory of supplies and reorder as needed
  • Check prices and assist customers locating items
  • Promote sales of current charitable promotions
  • Stand for durations exceeding 8 hours per scheduled shift
  • Receive deliveries and properly place merchandise
  • Unload trucks and transport merchandise to bakery department
  • Assist other departments as instructed
  • Follow company rules, policies, safety and security standards
  • Adhere to HAZCOM program guidelines
  • Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, price marking, arranging and restocking products
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products per company policy
  • Understand and maintain company shrink guidelines
  • Check refrigeration equipment regularly and report failures
  • Utilize and maintain department equipment and report issues
  • Complete all applicable training programs
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance
  • Work overtime as assigned
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Operate balers, hi-los, power jacks and slicing machines if 18 or older
  • Perform other duties as assigned
