Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in bakery or food service helpful
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to adhere to company uniform and grooming policies
  • Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks and manual labor
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Must comply with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret and understand the English language
  • Ability to stand or walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents
  • Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to comply with all time and attendance policies

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
  • Maintain department sanitation and QA standards
  • Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment
  • Keep floor clear of debris and spills
  • Greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance
  • Maintain and properly use all department equipment as required
  • Pack out product into display cases
  • Rotate product to ensure freshness
  • Ensure accurate signage for the department
  • Prepare trays to company and customer’s satisfaction
  • Perform all duties in accordance with local, state and federal regulations pertaining to bakery operations
  • Dress and groom according to company policy including uniform, name badge, and hair restraint requirements
  • Perform duties in accordance with QA hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food
  • Follow recipes to produce food products of specified quality
  • Set up, operate and tend bakery equipment according to formulas or recipes
  • Prepare special order requests
  • Track movement of sales on production logs
  • Take complete and accurate inventory of supplies and reorder as needed
  • Place reclamation in proper location
  • Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Unload trucks and transport merchandise to bakery department
  • Check prices and be knowledgeable about item locations
  • Promote current charitable promotions
  • Stand for shifts which may exceed 8 hours
  • Receive deliveries
  • Assist in other departments when instructed
  • Follow company’s HAZCOM program and use chemicals safely
  • Adhere to company rules, policies, safety and security standards
  • Follow procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, price marking, arranging and restocking products
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to policy
  • Understand and adhere to shrink guidelines
  • Utilize and maintain equipment and report problems
  • Check refrigeration equipment regularly
  • Complete department training programs
  • Perform duties according to ShopRite service priorities
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance
  • Work overtime as assigned
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Must be 18 or older to operate certain equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
