Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • At least one year custodial or housekeeping experience
  • U.S. regular passport or ability to obtain
  • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner's Credential (MMC) or ability to obtain within 90 days with Ordinary Seaman endorsement
  • USCG Medical Certificate without limitations
  • Pass USCG/DOT drug test
  • Willingness to work extended duty days and report on short notice
  • Ability to spend at least 3 months at sea and all ship activations
  • Pass background check
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
  • Position is security sensitive

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • At least one year in a custodial or housekeeping capacity
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and shipboard safety procedures
  • Ability to supervise and instruct cadets and crew
  • Knowledge of shipboard sanitation practices
  • Related teaching or supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain required certifications within 90 days

Job Duties

  • Responsible for daily cleaning, sanitation, waste management, sanitation equipment, and laundry services
  • Maintain and repair the ship's public and deck spaces
  • Oversee cadets and crew involved in ship cleanliness, sanitation, waste management, and laundry
  • Ensure all cleaning stations are equipped with required gear and consumables
  • Understand and comply with hazardous materials handling, stowage, segregation, and disposal
  • Follow shipboard safety regulations and use personal protective equipment appropriately
  • Perform other duties as assigned
