Job Description

Panther Central is a vital service unit within the Office of Business, Hospitality and Auxiliary Services (BHAS) at the University of Pittsburgh, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. BHAS leads and manages the University's foundational business services, ensuring that students, faculty, staff, and visitors have a seamless and exceptional campus experience. It oversees residential housing, over 36 dining concepts, hospitality services, university logistics including mail and parking, campus retail operations, and, importantly, Panther Central — the University’s comprehensive one-stop shop addressing all campus needs, such as ID cards. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • ability to work Tuesday through Saturday 3PM to 11PM
  • ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 35 pounds
  • willingness to complete background checks and child protection clearances
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to communicate effectively with diverse campus populations
  • authorization to work without visa sponsorship

  • ability to handle customer inquiries effectively

Job Duties

  • Implements and coordinates daily Panther Central activities, processes, and procedures
  • supervises Panther Central staff
  • provides direction
  • assists in initiating disciplinary and other related administrative actions
  • completes performance appraisals for reports
  • trains new employees
  • provides support and feedback
  • develops and implements new training programs
  • updates policies and procedures manual
  • assists students, parents, staff, and other related personnel with inquiries and issues via email, telephone, chat, and in-person
  • addresses and ensures resolution of customer service and front desk operational issues
  • serves as the first point of contact for all issues
  • recommends long term solutions when applicable
  • identifies trends of issues being raised by customers
  • notifies appropriate personnel
  • recommends solutions
  • reports on various customer metrics
