Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in large-scale cooking
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to direct and supervise inmate workers
  • Must pass a thorough background investigation
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and comply with food safety standards
  • Successful completion of a bilingual fluency exam if applicable

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in large-scale cooking and meal preparation
  • Ability to follow strict food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Skills in supervising and directing subordinate workers
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements for correctional facilities
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks food in accordance with state requirements for prisoner and inmate caloric intake
  • Assists in serving of food at correctional facilities
  • Maintains cleanliness of working area and equipment
  • Directs and trains inmate workers in food preparation and serving
  • Ensures compliance with food safety standards
  • Records and monitors food inventory and supplies
  • Performs related duties as required
