Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must not have felony convictions
  • Must pass comprehensive background investigation including fingerprint, polygraph, and psychological evaluations
  • Availability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime
  • Possess California P.O.S.T. Basic Dispatcher Certificate
  • Ability to type at 40 words per minute
  • One year emergency dispatching experience
  • No visa sponsorship available

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of 120 or 160-hour California P.O.S.T. Basic Dispatcher Course
  • Minimum one year emergency dispatching experience with law enforcement agency
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of public safety communication protocols

Job Duties

  • Dispatch emergency units and maintain continuous communication with field personnel
  • Monitor multiple communication channels simultaneously
  • Accurately record information and relay it promptly to relevant units
  • Coordinate resources and assist in managing emergency incidents
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Provide timely updates during rapidly changing situations
  • Participate in training and skill development activities
