Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade
  • One year of progressively more difficult and varied cooking and food preparation experience for large numbers of people for the Cook role
  • Two years of progressively more difficult and varied cooking and food preparation including one year supervisory experience for Cook Lead role
  • Knowledge of safe and proper use of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of math sufficient to compute percentages decimals and fractions
  • Knowledge of food industry terminology
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse individuals
  • Ability to operate contemporary office equipment
  • Ability to prepare cook and bake large quantities of food
  • Ability to follow recipes and train others
  • Directly supervise inmates
  • Utilize fresh fruits vegetables and gleaning items for meals
  • Oversee and train subordinate staff
  • Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Pass background investigation
  • Employment eligibility verification using E-Verify may be required
  • Ability to pass physical exam if required
