Job Requirements
- Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade
- One year of progressively more difficult and varied cooking and food preparation experience for large numbers of people for the Cook role
- Two years of progressively more difficult and varied cooking and food preparation including one year supervisory experience for Cook Lead role
- Knowledge of safe and proper use of commercial kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of sanitation practices and procedures
- Knowledge of math sufficient to compute percentages decimals and fractions
- Knowledge of food industry terminology
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse individuals
- Ability to operate contemporary office equipment
- Ability to prepare cook and bake large quantities of food
- Ability to follow recipes and train others
- Directly supervise inmates
- Utilize fresh fruits vegetables and gleaning items for meals
- Oversee and train subordinate staff
- Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Pass background investigation
- Employment eligibility verification using E-Verify may be required
- Ability to pass physical exam if required

Job Duties
- Prepare cook and bake a variety of foods in large quantities
- Follow recipes and instructions to train in the preparation of food and special diets
- Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Operate contemporary office equipment including computer and keyboard
- Directly supervise inmates to get daily duties completed
- Utilize fresh fruits vegetables and gleaning items for meals
- Oversee the work of and train subordinate staff
- Cook and serve appetizing meals
