Job Description
Gateway West Shelter is Albuquerque's largest shelter dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness. Open year-round, it provides a safe and welcoming environment for an average of 600 guests each night, with numbers increasing to over 700 during cold winter nights. The shelter offers essential services including nutritious meals, warm overnight beds, and secure under-bed storage for personal belongings. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social work public administration or related field or relevant experience
- 3-5 years experience in social services or shelter management
- 1-2 years supervisory experience
- Availability to work overnight shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to manage crises and high-stress situations
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to trauma-informed care principles
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work Public Administration or related field or relevant experience considered
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in social services or shelter management
- At least 1-2 years experience in a supervisory role
- Expertise in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care
- Strong community outreach and partnership-building skills
- Proficiency in data management and analytics
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Job Duties
- Supervise shelter staff including case managers intake coordinators and support personnel
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback
- Facilitate training sessions to enhance staff skills and knowledge
- Coordinate staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and support during peak hours
- Manage crisis interventions effectively and compassionately
- Build and maintain partnerships with local agencies and community organizations
- Use data analytics to monitor shelter operations client progress and program effectiveness
