Job Description
The Student Union, Inc. at San Jose State University is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary organization dedicated to enhancing the student experience by maintaining three major facilities in downtown San Jose, California. These facilities include the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, the Provident Credit Union Event Center (PCUEC), and the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center. Job Requirements
- Current SJSU students enrolled for the current or upcoming semester
- Available to work 12-15 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and academic breaks
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, push carts, and work on your feet for extended periods
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and a team player
- Willingness to learn and take direction from student and professional supervisors
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience in event setup, facilities work, or related role
- Familiarity with safe lifting techniques and event equipment
Job Duties
- Execute event setups and breakdowns per diagrams and instructions (tables, chairs, staging, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces and storage areas
- Load/unload equipment and support event turnover and transitions
- Assist with minor equipment checks and report damages or inventory shortages
- Provide on-site event support as directed (restocking, monitoring, resetting spaces)
- Follow safety procedures and support a positive team environment
- Occasionally assist with large-scale campus or external events (commencements, concerts, orientations)
