Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of set-up or facility support experience
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools used to perform job duties
  • Ability to operate machinery and equipment including public address systems, audio/visual equipment, spotlights, projectors, screens, overheads, cordless microphones, electrical lighting equipment, and basic hand tools
  • Ability to interpret blueprints or other sketches and drawings
  • Ability to operate a computer

Job Duties

  • Guide and direct part-time student set-up staff during shifts, ensuring meeting and event spaces are prepared according to their scheduled start and end times
  • Coordinate the set-up of function rooms for meetings, catering, and conferences, ensuring all requirements are met
  • Arrange and move event-related equipment, including tables, chairs, staging, sound systems, audiovisual equipment, and computer equipment
  • Assist with technical setup, ensuring audio/visual and other equipment is properly configured and operational
  • Maintain direct communication with clients to address their needs and provide support throughout events
  • Read and interpret set-up sheets
  • Work with event management concerning logistical requirements
  • Oversee and participate in the set-up of meeting rooms, banquet rooms, performance halls, classrooms, outdoor venues and other facilities
  • Interact with clients to determine customer needs and resolve problems or concerns
  • Participate in the clean-up of all venues after events and meetings
  • Perform custodial duties as needed
  • Maintain database to track usage and location of equipment
  • Assemble, operate, and ensure public address and audio-visual equipment is in good working order
  • Inspect equipment for defects or damage and notify maintenance personnel or outside service contractors for repairs
  • Consult with supervisor and other personnel to resolve problems, including facility needs and maintenance, equipment performance, output quality, and work schedules
  • Fill in for supervisor in their absence, scheduling and training hourly employees on work activities
  • Train employees in work and safety procedures and departmental policies
  • Drive vehicles as needed
